“Deliberate” misadventures

As we said in a previous post, stories based on travel misadventures often have great narrative potential. However, misadventures do not necessarily have to occur by chance: do not be afraid to be the maker of your own traveller’s and (aspiring) writer’s fate! But how? Well, try visiting a large city without a map or guide. And no cheating: that means all smartphones turned off. Start off in an area that you know nothing about, such as a subway stop with a curious name, and continue on foot. The rules of the game allow you to ask for help or advice only from the local people. Let yourself be guided and see what occurs: in most cases, something interesting is bound to happen.
