Limits of the writer 2: space

After time, space is the next limit that every writer must respect. Just as we know that journalists have to stay within a specific number of columns and characters, so should we writers set a specific length for our stories. We should decide in advance and use it as a guide, all the while knowing that it does not have to be an unbreakable law. If we choose to write ten pages, then we cannot spend the first five describing the first day of our trip. We must divide up the experience based on our writing objectives. Think carefully before you start: will ten pages be enough or too much for the particular story that you want to tell?
Next week, we will talk about the last limit: readers.
